Light Liner Denture Reline Technique

To achieve the best results follow these recommended techniques.

 DENTURE PREPARATION

Remove denture from patient's mouth. Prior to relining, dye tissue side of denture with Reline Prep. Reline Prep will dye a uniform layer of old acrylic. This makes it possible to remove that uniform layer of old acrylic to achieve maximum bonding of the reline material. Grind 1-2 mm from the entire palatal surface with carbide bur to remove plaque and expose fresh acrylic base. Use Masque on teeth and labial surface to prevent sticking of composite.

 TECHNIQUE

    Mixing Composite
Add Light Liner liquid to Light Liner powder, trying to incorporate as little air as possible into the mix. Use 1.5 parts Powder by volume to one part Liquid by volume OR 4 gms. Liquid to 6 gms. Powder. Use a folding technique or make "Xs" in the material to incorporate the liquid into the powder. Vibrate 5 seconds or tap on counter.

Impression
As soon as a uniform mix is obtained, coat denture with thin composite mix to serve as bonding agent. If air bubbles surface, puncture immediately w ith spatula to eliminate any porosity. Remainder of mix should remain in cup until it reaches a peanut-butter consistency (5-6 minutes). Spatulate mix into denture like an impression paste. Place denture into patient's mouth and position as in taking an i mpression. Wipe any excess composite from denture peripheral border with wet finger or instrument. Hold denture in position in patient's mouth for approximately 3 minutes or until composite becomes rubbery (similar to impression material).

    Cure of Light Liner Soft
Remove the denture from mouth, rinse with water and dry. Place denture, with composite facing visible light, for five minutes in Bosworth Light Cure Unit. Remove denture and coat with an excess of Light Liner Air Barrie r and cure for an additional 5 minutes.

    Cure of Light Liner Hard
Remove denture from mouth, rinse with water, dry and coat Light Liner with Bosworth Air Barrier. Cure denture with material facing visible light for 5 minutes in Bosworth Light Cure Unit.

The total curing time is 10 minutes - 5 minutes without Air Barrier and 5 minutes with. (If using light with fluorescent bulbs, curing time is 10 minutes and 10 minutes.)

 CAUTION

*Light Liner SOFT - 10 minutes total cure time
