Hydrox Technique
Calcium Hydroxide Paste

To achieve the best results follow these recommended techniques.

 TECHNIQUE

    a) Dispense equal volume (1.17 to 1.00 by wt.) of base and catalyst paste on the parchment paper pad provided. Mix immediately. Mix thoroughly until a uniform color is achieved.

b) To provide maximum working time, do not over spatulate. Complete mixing time should be approximately 10 seconds.

    c) Make sure the cavity preparation is dry. Quickly apply Hydrox to take full advantage of the flowability of the material. This allows for efficient placement for setting starts.

    d) Hydrox will set in approximately 2-3 minutes on the mixing pad under normal room conditions (70 with 50% relative humidity. The setting time is shorter in the mouth due to increased moisture and temperature.

 CAUTION

*Use only in situations where Hydrox can be protected from the interal environment.
*After Hydrox sets, use Copaliner cavity varnish under amalgam or composites.
*Avoid the use of high packing pressures that might cause the material to fracture.
*The correct ratio and complete mixing of base and catalyst are important factors affecting the radiopacity, strength and durability of the material.
*Deliberate deviations from the recommended ratio of base to catalyst are to be avoided.
